Frequently asked questions

UV exposure can cause skin damage ranging from premature aging and sunburn to more serious risks such as skin cancer. Appropriate sun protection helps prevent these effects by filtering out harmful rays, while preserving the skin's health and radiance.

UVA rays (longer wavelengths) penetrate deep into the skin, contributing to skin ageing and potentially damaging cellular DNA.

UVB (shorter wavelength) mainly affects the epidermis, causing sunburn and burns, and is the main cause of skin cancer. Broad-spectrum protection is essential to limit these effects.

The SPF (Sun Protection Factor) indicates the level of protection against UVB, which is responsible for sunburn. For example, SPF 30 filters out around 97 % of UVB rays, while SPF 50 blocks 98 %.

The choice of SPF depends on your skin type, the intensity of sun exposure and the length of time spent in the sun:

- SPF 30: recommended for moderate exposure.
- SPF 50+: recommended for fair, sensitive skin or when exposed to intense sunlight (beach, mountains).

In all cases, reapplication every two hours and after swimming is essential for effective protection.

Yes, because 80 % of UV rays pass through clouds (WHO, 2002). In winter, reverberation off snow can double UV exposure, especially at higher altitudes. Sun protection remains essential to prevent skin ageing and UV damage all year round.

For optimum protection, apply 2 mg of sunscreen per cm² of skin, equivalent to one teaspoon for the face and neck, and around six teaspoons for the whole body (Diffey & Robson, 1997). Insufficient application considerably reduces the effectiveness of SPF.

We recommend reapplying sunscreen every two hours, and after every swim, perspiration or rubbing (towel, clothes). Even water-resistant formulas lose effectiveness over time. Continuous protection is essential to limit UV damage.

Opt for an SPF 50+, fragrance-free, alcohol-free and dermatologically tested formula. Hypoallergenic textures enriched with soothing active ingredients are ideal for limiting skin reactions.
